What ever happened to Sarah Good?
Posted by Brendan Cook
Research Summary: Sarah Good was one of the first three people to be accused of witch craft. She was a homeless woman who always begged people for money, food, or clothing. If people didn’t give her anything when they walked by, she would mumble under her breathe. It was believed that these mumbles were curses directed at the people when they walked by. Since her first husband died and was in debt, her second marriage was difficult because her two kids, husband, and she was in debt. They later became a nuisance to the town and in 1692 were virtually beggars. Because Sarah was such a disruptive person in the town, it made her look like a good person who would be involved in witch craft. On February 29, 1692 the first warrant was issued for Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne, and Tituba’s arrest.
